You traverse from shop to shop, looking for the perfect sweater, but you come up disappointed. The color isn’t right, the fabric isn’t the right texture, there’s something off about it. Or maybe you buy it and it lives to disappoint. Men seem to have all the luck.
If you’re struggling to find a nice sweater for women, you’re definitely not alone. To help curb this problem and keep you warm this winter, we put together some tips and tricks to help snag the perfect catch and avoid those snares.
Sweater Density
When you try on a sweater, note the weave. Will the wind blow through it? And if it does, do you have a shirt you could wear under it to keep you warm without looking bulky? If the answer is no, you should pass.
Sweater Length
If you find a sweater you like that’s a little bit too long, think about what bottoms you would wear it with. Will it tuck into the skirt you’re wanting to wear it with? Or will it flow over black pants? How you plan to wear the sweater will help you decide on the worth.
Go thrifting!
Thrifting is great because you know what you’re looking at is what you get. It’s one size and likely already been washed, so you know it won’t shrink. There are lots of great pieces hiding among the racks. It’s up to you to find them! Keep an eye on thrift stores in early September, that’s when all the great sweaters tend to make their appearance!
If all else fails…check the men’s section
If you are looking for more of a casual sweater, the men’s section can be the ticket to your favorite sweater. If men have all the luck, we might as well capitalize on it. Men’s fabric tends to be thicker and hardier, so this would definitely be one to keep in your closet for warm days.
All in all, a good sweater for women can be hard to find. We have to keep looking and never settle for less! Hopefully, these tidbits will help you find your next favorite sweater.
